Gaza faces a humanitarian crisis as Israel takes over the Rafah border. Save Gaza Campaign calls for daily sit-in protests in Islamabad demanding Pakistan's intervention and global action to stop the violence and deliver aid.

Islamabad, Pakistan—Aid had typically trickled in for the people of Gaza through the Rafah border, the Gazan side of which was taken over by Israel on May 06 after a ground invasion and a deadly air raid. Taking over the only border through which humanitarian aid was possible and forcing all aid workers to leave the strip, is a death sentence for our brother and sisters in Gaza.

And the world watches on as the situation on the ground becomes more and more grim by the minute and the death toll steadily rises. After 217 days of chaos and destruction, the Rafah border take-over spells the last nail in the coffin for Gazans, who now have nowhere to go and feel like this is the end.

Save Gaza Campaign is therefore calling for a daily sit-in protest, open for all Pakistanis to join and unite against the silence of the government in this matter.

The people will peacefully sit at D-Chowk Islamabad, until their demands are heard and decisive action is taken by the government of Pakistan.

We are shocked and appalled at the response or lack thereof, of the Government of Pakistan to take action to force Israel to, at the very least, an immediate ceasefire. We urge the government to take decisive action to :

  1. Call for an immediate global intervention and heightened pressure for an immediate ceasefire .
  2. Establish a formal team to join South Africa in the prosecution of Israel for crimes against humanity in the International Court of Justice.
  3. Initiate proceedings on Israel’s war crimes in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
  4. Undertake diplomatic demarche with the ambassadors of the United States, Great Britain, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
  5. Facilitate ground and sea routes for humanitarian aid, including the dispatch of a naval fleet to deliver substantial quantities of food, medicine, and essential Supplies.

It is now a matter of now or never, as the world, including the government of Pakistan watches on in criminal silence, perhaps waiting and hoping that the crisis will mark the end of what had become a nuisance in their daily comings and goings and their business Interest.
